Just like a stage performance each role we play is vital for the overall production and quality of the show. Likewise, it is very important for everyone in YTJ to have a firm and deep understanding of our vision “being ideal partners to all children and young people and contribute to education and culture”. Our core philosophy is being open to creativity, innovation, and diversity. More specifically, we have great people working together with passion for a common goal. With this approach, we are a more flexible, fun, stimulating, creative, collaborative, and successful Japanese organization. While still upholding Japanese traditional office culture such as bowing, aisatsu, respecting dress codes and limits dying hair.

Youth Theatre Japan (YTJ) is a theatre company that creates new value in the areas of education and entertainment.
Our fundamental principle is treating children and young people as our equal partners. We will express the strength of our partnership through our contribution to society.
YTJ will set outstanding goals and provide an environment in which YTJ members can achieve those goals together.
At the same time, YTJ will pursue our staff’s happiness and will respect the diversity of values among staff. YTJ will do its best in providing an environment in which staff members are able to demonstrate their innovation and creativity.

We will respect our company principles and business policies. If we are in doubt, we will act according to our guidelines of conduct, quickly and with specific motive.

Be Ready To Shine
We are all on stage at YTJ, for employees our stage is actually backstage running our day to day operations and tasks. No role is too small or insignificant as together we meet the needs of our members so that they can perform on stage. It truly takes all of our combined efforts at YTJ to make this possible. That’s why we all do our part and also help others with their parts so that, everyone can feel the passion, joy, and harmony of our work culture.
We build trust by being selfless in giving feedback to our colleagues and by asking questions when we don`t understand, even if it is uncomfortable to do so. Feedback and asking questions helps us to avoid sustained misunderstandings and the need for strict rules. Feedback is more easily exchanged if there is a strong underlying relationship and trust between people, which is part of why we invest time in developing those professional relationships through 3 daily Skype meetings.
During these meetings, the whole company and all studios connect to openly share information, go over our core values, and build community.
Freedom & Responsibility
There’s nothing that’s too big or small for anyone to take on at YTJ. If something needs to be done and you have the skills —do it, we want to encourage you to do so while never thinking “that’s not my job.”
Our goal is to inspire people more than manage them. We trust our teams to do what they think is best for YTJ — giving them lots of freedom, power, and information in support of their decisions. In turn, this generates a sense of responsibility and self-discipline that drives us to do great work that benefits the company.
We believe that people thrive on being trusted, on freedom, and on being able to make a difference. So we foster freedom and empowerment wherever we can.

Closing Statement About Who We Are & What We Aren`t
YTJ is the one and only English Theatre Company for the younger generations in Japan. We impact both local and global communities through various performances as we believe this is necessary in order for our members to learn the importance of giving back through the arts.
Our concept is a fusion of “Entertainment” and “Education”. Allowing us to provide creates innovative, creative and positive youth development.
We are not an eikaiwa (English language school) or talent agency.
